Dr. Atul Gawande, a surgeon at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, in a speech at the Commonwealth Club of California about medical mistakes. He is the author of a book called "Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science." Gawande is also a staff science writer for the New Yorker.
