St. Paul, Minn. —
The local American Guild of Organists chapter, with organizational help from Pipedreams host Michael Barone, has been sponsoring "Before Bach's Birthday" Bashes in mid-March for some years now (they have a Bach's Birthday Bash on the Saturdays that coincide with March 21, Bach's actual day of birth back in 1685).
This past Saturday, March 15, the musicians offered four free concerts at various churches along Summit Avenue.
The first hour was broadcast live on Classical Minnesota Public Radio, and featured organists David Jenkins and Joseph Trucano (Pipedreams Production Assistant), a trio from the Bach Society of Minnesota playing a nifty arrangement of movements from the 2nd Brandenburg Concerto (violinist Jin Kim, gambist Julie Elhardt, and harpsichordist Paul Boehnke), and pianists Isaac Drewes and Soyoun Kim.
All in all, it was a great day of music, and we hope you'll enjoy reliving the experience online!
