ST. PAUL, Minn. — Every weekday morning at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call these works Morning Glories.

This week's Morning Glories celebrate new holiday releases. We'll play medleys of carols from each album to help celebrate the holidays and capture the feeling of the festive season.

Surrounded by Angels / Ensemble Galilei

Surrounded by Angels from Ensemble Galilei blends early music with folk sounds.

Isthmus Brass Christmas

Wisconsin's leading brass ensemble performs music of the season. Also, top marks for adding to the joy of the season with the ear-pleasing rhyme of "Isthmus" and "Christmas".

A Harp for Christmas Vol 1 / Emily Mitchell

Emily Mitchell gives us some very familiar carols and the intimate sound of the harp.

Christmas Daybreak / Dettra, Nally, The Crossing

This album features new carols sung by Philadelphia's innovative choral group, The Crossing.

Tchaikovsky, Ellington/Strayhorn: Nutcracker Suites

A beloved suite (and a jazzy rewrite) are on this new disc from the Harmonie Ensemble.
