ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Tchaikovsky Piano Trio was composed to honor the memory of pianist Nikolai Rubinstein. Dark clouds hang over the work.

A performance from an April Bethlehem Music Series concert — featuring pianist Timothy Lovelace and Minnesota Orchestra principals Erin Keefe (violin) and Tony Ross (cello) — is in this week's Regional Spotlight.

Of one emotional mind and spirit, these three musicians conveyed not only the work's elegiac quality but also embraced the audience with the joy of their music-making. The trio's dark cloud appeared with a most inspired silver lining.
