Flicks in Five: Monsters, Inc.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Our celebration of Pixar films continues this week as we look at Monsters, Inc., another Randy Newman-composed score.

Monsters, Inc. gives a behind-the-scenes look at a monster factory and training facility, where those beasties who lurk under children's beds learn how to scare with sincerity and skill. It's a fine business model until one of the monsters-in-training experiences some conscientious objection to the whole monster-ing business.

Composer Newman brings his signature style and his penchant for capturing emotions to the score of Monsters, Inc., demonstrating that special power music has of giving voice to the ineffable.
