If you've had to see a doctor or stay at a hospital in the last decade, chances are Dr. Arnold Milstein influenced the experience. Milstein has spent much of his career trying to make quality health care more affordable and available. In 2000 he co-founded the Leapfrog Group, a non-profit of organizations that offer incentives for providers who promote safety, quality and affordability in their hospitals.
In 2010 he was tapped to lead Stanford's Clinical Excellence Research Center. The goal of CERC is to try and figure out ways to responsibly bring down health care spending. After crunching numbers and culling through mountains of data, the center's first group of fellows came up with four areas of focus: chronic kidney disease, morbid obesity, colon cancer and poor-prognosis cancer.
Milstein joins The Daily Circuit Thursday, Jan. 17 along with CERC fellows Dr. Graham Abra and Dr. Manali Patel.
