Video: Mpls. Indian dance studio externalizes joy

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Ranee Ramaswamy founded Ragamala Dance in Minneapolis over 20 years ago. Since then, the company has presented its take on traditional South Indian classical dance everywhere from community parks in the Twin Cities to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai, India.

Reporter Nikki Tundel attended a rehearsal and talked with Ranee Ramaswamy and her daughters Aparna Ramaswamy (principal dancer, co-artistic director and co-choreographer) and Ashwini Ramaswamy (company dancer and director of publicity and marketing).
