Fasten your seatbelts, it's Bette. Long known as a tough character on and off screen, Bette Davis was the nemesis to some Hollywood types and muse to others. Through the late 1930s and into the 1940s she was Hollywood's top leading lady. She won two Academy Awards out of ten nominations, and it was a famous contemporary Hollywood director who saved the statuettes from oblivion when they were being auctioned off, paying a cool million bucks for both and returning them to the Academy.
