ST. PAUL, Minn. — Two people are dead after a shooting Thursday in a suburban Twin Cities strip mall.

Cottage Grove Chief of Police Craig Woolery said at about 3:30 p.m. multiple people called with reports of several shots fired and a man chasing a woman in the parking lot of a small strip mall off Highway 61.

"Reportedly, a male's chasing a female with a gun. Officers arrived found two people shot, one female is deceased," Woolery said. "She was found inside Jimmy John's."

The man was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Woolery said. The alleged shooter was taken to Regions Hospital, where he later died. Police have yet to identify the suspect or victim.

Cottage Grove is about 15 miles southeast of the Twin Cities.
