Debt collectors under new scrutiny

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced Wednesday that it would begin overseeing large debt collection firms in the industry to make sure consumers are being treated fairly.

Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson has been among the most proactive attorney generals in the country in protecting citizens from debt collector abuse. She joins The Daily Circuit Thursday to discuss the new plans and the problems with aggressive debt collection practices.
