Target to hire up to 90K seasonal employees

Target will hire tens of thousands of seasonal employees to staff its stores and distribution centers for the coming shopping holidays.

The retailer plans to add 80,000 to 90,000 employees to help with an expected surge in holiday sales.

Target says it is looking for sales floor employees, as well as cashiers and backroom staff. Hiring for distribution center positions began back in July. Hiring for store employees started this month and will continue through December.

Last year, the retailer added 92,000 employees to help it through the holidays. About 30 percent of of those seasonal hires ended up staying with Target in year-round positions.
