Listeria worries prompt MN chicken recall

A Minnesota grocery store chain is recalling a wide range of chicken products, saying they may have listeria contamination.

Lunds and Byerlys says its recalling 17 private label chicken products after an independent testing lab found they may be contaminated.

Listeria typically causes a mild, flu-like illness and diahhrea, but can grow more serious. It's particularly dangerous for pregnant women and newborns.

The company is voluntarily recalling it's six varieties of Lunds and Byerly's marinated chicken breasts, four varieties of kabobs that include chicken, and five fast meal kits that contain chicken. Anyone who's purchased these items since September 14th can return them for a refund or discard them immediately.

The company says it has asked the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to check the chicken's supplier. There have been no reported or known illnesses resulting from the contamination.
