Rep. Kiffmeyer on Minnesota Supreme Court rulings
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Republican-controlled Minnesota Legislature scored major victories Monday at the state Supreme Court.
First, the court ruled to include on November's ballot a proposed constitutional amendment requiring a photo ID to vote, a measure that several groups wanted to keep off the ballot altogether. In a second case, the high court ruled that the Legislature has the power to write the titles of proposed amendments on the ballot, not the Secretary of State.
MPR's Phil Picardi spoke with Republican state Rep. Mary Kiffmeyer. She's one of the authors of the Photo ID amendment, and is a former Minnesota Secretary of State.
