Amy Senser appeals conviction
Amy Senser is appealing her conviction in the hit-and-run that killed Roseville resident Anousone Phanthavong nearly a year ago.
Senser's attorney, Eric Nelson, filed paperwork with the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He argues there is not enough evidence to prove Senser knew she hurt or killed someone before she notified police, and that Senser did not get a fair trial because the judge didn't move the venue or sequester the jury in response to publicity.
Nelson writes the court should have admitted Phanthavong's toxicology report into evidence and shared jury communications with the defense.
Senser is the wife of former Minnesota Vikings player Joe Senser. She was found guilty in May of two felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide for driving the SUV that struck and killed Phanthavong on an Interstate 94 ramp. Last month she was sentenced to 41 months in prison.
The Hennepin County Attorney's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
