FEMA official explains denial for flood damage aidby Cathy Wurzer, Minnesota Public Radio
St. Paul, Minn. — Governor Mark Dayton says his office will appeal a decision by FEMA that individuals in six northern Minnesota counties are not eligible for federal assistance to pay for damages to homes caused by the flooding on June 20th.
In it's announcement yesterday, FEMA said that "damage to dwellings was not of such severity and magnitude as to warrant the implementation of individual assistance."
FEMA spokesperson Richard Gifford discussed the decision with Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer.
