St. Paul, Minn. —
Saturday, July 14 marks what would have been Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday. Guthrie was a folk singer whose populist anthems became some of the genre's signature songs, and whose performances of some traditional and children's songs are now considered the definitive versions. His work was one of the core inspirations for the ensuing generation of folk singers, including such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and his own son Arlo Guthrie. Enjoy this video from Classical MPR's Harmony in the Park event featuring several Minnesota vocal ensembles performing Guthrie's best-known song, "This Land is Your Land."
