St. Paul, Minn. — Guitarist Jason Vieaux is making a name for himself as an imaginative, innovative and virtuosic performer. Besides an intense performing schedule at concert and recital halls around the world, he also devotes a lot of his time to teaching. He has been head of the Guitar Department at the Cleveland Institute of Music since 2001 and just last year he co-founded the Curtis Institute of Music Guitar Department with guitarist David Starobin.

And Vieaux is taking his teaching to a new — and very different — level. In June, he teamed up with ArtistWorks to launch an interactive online school for classical guitar. Students of any age and any ability, and from any location, can take lessons from Vieaux online through ArtistWorks' Video Exchange learning platform. It is, Vieaux says, the dawn of a new era.
