This year, we're marking the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Dakota War of 1862.  


On Saturday, an exhibit about the war opens at the Minnesota History Center in downtown St. Paul.  


For the past few months, we've been talking about the events that led up to that conflict with Annette Atkins who teaches history at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University.  


In previous discussions, Atkins has told us about two key figures in the war: Henry Sibley and Little Crow.  Today, we're going to hear about Alexander Ramsey who was governor of Minnesota at the time.  MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Atkins at the Alexander Ramsey House in St. Paul where they talked about his influence and reputation leading up to the war.
