Vikings stadium commission still not set

Gov. Mark Dayton says his appointments to a new stadium commission are taking longer than expected.

The commission is a key step toward building the nearly $1 billion Vikings stadium that lawmakers approved last month. Dayton told reporters Wednesday that he had originally hoped to have already made his selections. But he said it's been hard finding the right people.

"Finding people who have the capabilities and also have the time is a challenge. It's a big time commitment," Dayton said. "We've got a couple of really terrific people who've just looked at it and said 'we just can't afford that amount of time.' "

Dayton said he's looking for people who have experience with similar large-scale projects. He wants commission members to ensure that the public gets its money's worth on the stadium.
