On ballots across the country, voters are being asked to take a position on same-sex marriage. But now the discussion has moved beyond the individual as companies across the country get involved in the fight.

In Minnesota, Target has been on both sides of the debate. The company first gave money to a candidate who opposed same-sex marriage rights, but is now selling pride t-shirts.

With such a polarizing topic, the involvement of the private sector has lead to controversy on both sides. Do corporations have a place in politics? Does a company see any economic benefits by supporting rights of same-sex couples or does it harm the business?

Jonathan Baker, director of the Corporate Fairness Project for the National Organization for Marriage, joined The Daily Circuit Wednesday. John G. Taft, CEO of RBC Wealth Management, was also part of the discussion.
