St. Paul, Minn. —
Where can one find ten Minnesota choir and vocal ensembles, singing all Minnesota composers, in one concert? It probably only happens once every 118 years, and it's happening Wednesday at Orchestra Hall for the Opening Gala Concert of Chorus America.
The live broadcast on Classical MPR will feature Cantus, Choral Arts Ensemble, Magnum Chorum, Minnesota Chorale, National Lutheran Choir, One Voice Mixed Chorus, The Singers, VocalEssence Chorus and Ensemble Singers, and the Minnesota Youth Choir Consortium conducted by Francisco Núñez. The concert will conclude with a Massed Choir of over 200 voices performing When Music Sounds, a new work by Stephen Paulus, commissioned for the conference.
Brian Newhouse will host this live broadcast, and the last from Orchestra Hall before it closes for renovations starting in July. Tune in to Classical MPR at 8 p.m. on June 13 to hear the entire concert.
