Franken, Dayton lead higher-ed cost meeting

Two Minnesota politicians will meet with higher education leaders Monday to talk about college affordability.

U.S. Sen. Al Franken and Gov. Mark Dayton will join University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler for the roundtable discussion. Larry Pogemiller, the director of the state's Office of Higher Education, will also participate.

Students from the U of M, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system and private colleges will also be on hand to share their ideas for making college more affordable.

Franken has advocated for efforts that would make students and their families aware of the true costs of college.

The discussion takes place at 10 a.m. at the university's Science Teaching and Student Services Building on the East Bank campus.
