Richard Jacques on Top Score

St. Paul, Minn. — Two of my favorite things coincide on the new episode of Top Score: composer Richard Jacques, and LittleBigPlanet.

Firstly, British composer Richard Jacques (JAYKS) has written music for some of the most recognizable games of the last decade. Games like Headhunter, Mass Effect and James Bond 007: Blood Stone all left their mark in some way, and provided us with melodies we'll never forget.

My other favorite thing, LittleBigPlanet, is, without question, one of the most innovative games ever developed. UK game developer Media Molecule released the first installment of LBP for the PlayStation 3 in 2008.

True story: every single person I've invited to play LBP has come back to play again, and we frequently have LBP nights at the house.

Observe the cuteness of the first Little Big Planet:

LittleBigPlanet 2 came out in early 2011. So here's a bit of video game jargon for you... after a game these days is officially released, developers will occasionally offer downloadable content (DLC) with new levels or characters or maps, etc.

LBP2 released the Muppets DLC pack earlier this year, complete with 5 new levels and a new soundtrack (along with other fun stuff).

Richard scored the Muppets levels, able to draw on his love for big-band, 70s sci-fi, and his admiration for the LBP series. Here's the trailer for the Muppets DLC:
