Bachmann says McCain will help her retire $1M debt
Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign says 2008 GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain is going to help her raise money and help retire $1 million in campaign debt.
He'll be doing a fundraising event for Bachmann this week in Washington.
Bachmann is seeking reelection to the 6th Congressional District. She dropped out of the GOP nomination battle after a dismal showing in the Iowa caucuses in January.
Finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission last week showed Bachmann's presidential campaign was more than $1 million in debt as of January 25 of this year.

In between stops to local GOP political conventions in the Twin Cities over the weekend, Bachmann insisted the latest reporting about her campaign debt was misleading although she did not say how much her campaign owes.
She predicted she'll post strong 1st quarter fundraising numbers and she noted the House record-setting $13.5 million she raised for her 2010 congressional reelection campaign.
"No other member of Congress is the history of the United States Congress has ever raised more money for election," she said. "And I'll do it again this time."
In addition to the McCain fundraiser this week in Washington, the Bachmann campaign says it's also planning a major Minnesota fundraiser.
