Mpls. police: Leads, no arrests in fatal cab shooting

by Laura Yuen, Minnesota Public Radio

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minneapolis police say they have some leads but no arrests resulting from Wednesday night's shooting death of a Minneapolis cab driver.

Officers found the 56-year-old driver for Yellow Cab critically injured in his vehicle on the city's north side. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center and later died.

Sgt. Melissa Chiodo said investigators still don't know why someone shot the driver.

"Homicide has been speaking to what they believe is the last-known people that were transported in the cab to see if they have any information," Chiodo said.

A police K-9 unit scoured the area for a suspect, but came up with nothing.

The medical examiner's office has yet to release the name of the driver.
