Benjamin Grosvenor CD Giveaway

St. Paul, Minn. — Pianist Benjamin Grosvenor first grabbed the public's attention when he was eleven, and won the BBC's Young Musician of the Year competition. (That was in 2004, so you can do the math to find out his current age.) Today, he performs around the world and played at the opening concert of last year's BBC Proms.

Like the performers whom you hear in Minnesota Varsity, Benjamin Grosvenor ("GROVE-ner") stands out--not just because he's young, but because of his thoughtful, accomplished musicianship.

He recently signed with the Decca label, making him the first British pianist to do so in almost sixty years. On his brand-new Decca disc, he plays pieces by Chopin, Liszt, and Ravel. The repertoire includes, among other pieces, Chopin's Scherzos and Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit, which many a Minnesotan has seen in its mural version in downtown Minneapolis.
