Object thrown at vehicle strikes driver, police investigate

A driver was injured in Monday when someone threw a six-inch iron vise through the windshield of his vehicle. It's the sixth time in a month that objects — apparently thrown — have struck cars driving on Normandale Boulevard between 84th and 98th streets in Bloomington, Minn.

The driver was traveling south on Normandale Boulevard when the vise was thrown through the windshield and hit him in the face, Bloomington Police Deputy Chief Rick Hart said. The driver on Wednesday afternoon was still hospitalized with what police described as a "serious facial injury,"

Hart said different objects were thrown in each of the other five cases, although no one had been injured until Monday.

The Bloomington Crime Prevention Association is offering a $1,500 award for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of suspects.
