Company proposes oil pipeline in northern Minn.
by Rupa Shenoy, Minnesota Public RadioST. PAUL, Minn — A Colorado company is considering an oil pipeline from North Dakota to northern Minnesota.
Saddle Butte Pipeline LLC is taking bids until March 16 from oil producers who want to use the proposed pipeline.
The company will measure interest by oil producers to decide whether to move forward with the project, Vice President Greg Ward said.
The pipeline — 16-inches in diameter and 450-miles long — could carry as much as 150,000 barrels of crude oil daily. Sixty-five miles would run through Minnesota, ending at a pipeline hub in Clearbrook.
Ward says his company does not yet have an estimate of the project's cost. He said the pipeline's route would follow existing utility corridors and roads.
