St. Paul, Minn. — The Schubert Club, Minnesota oldest arts organization, has a new Director. Barry Kempton's gracious accent reveals his English roots. But Kempton is no stranger to Minnesota. He spent eleven years as Artistic Planner and General Manager of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Now, after five years in England running the London Sinfonia, Kempton is back in Minnesota as the Schubert Club's Artistic and Executive Director.

Kempton arrived just in time to announce the Schubert Club's 130th anniversary 2012-13 Season, a fabulous line-up that includes recitals by Karita Mattila, Stephen Hough, and Anne-Sophie Mutter. Kempton and I talked about the new season, and Kempton's ideas for the next chapter in the Schubert Club's amazing history.
