Q&A: Economist Laura Kalambokidis discusses Gov. Dayton's jobs plan
by Tom Crann, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Gov. Mark Dayton this week proposed a package of investments and tax policy changes that he claims will create thousands of jobs for Minnesotans.
Dayton proposes to reward businesses this year with a $3,000 tax credit each time they hire someone who is unemployed, a veteran or a recent graduate. Dayton estimates the credit would create more than 20,000 private sector jobs.
To get some more perspective on the effectiveness of programs like the one the governor has proposed, MPR speaks with Laura Kalambokidis, and economist at the University of Minnesota and expert on business taxes.
