Music with Minnesotans: Lorna Landvik

St. Paul, Minn. — Lorna Landvik calls herself a pretender. Well at least when it comes to classical music.

She played the flute as a kid and got by completely faking it - and pulled it off pretty well. It's because she just hated practicing. But what faking provided her was a basis for a life as an improvisational actor.

Right now, she's appearing at the Bryant Lake Bowl in a one-woman show called "Party in the Rec Room" where the inspiration for characters comes from margaritas made on stage for the audience - and for her - to drink.

She's even created a few "characters" for Music with Minnesotans including Claude Debussy himself preferring James Galway to Jean-Pierre Rampal for his Clair de Lune.

She also becomes Joan Sutherland as about the diva-est diva she could ever be. And she plays me --- I know, I know, I love the sound of my own voice, and now I've been called out!
