Cantus Live from Westminster Presbyterian Church

St. Paul, Minn. — Listen online to Cantus live in concert, from December 16. They do a little bit of everything Christmasy. And because these guys have throats apparently lined with gold, it all comes out oh-so classy.

What's on tap? An old carol or two, then a gorgeous new piece written for them by South Dakotan, Brian Schmidt. Ever hear a metal slit drum? Me neither! We'll both learn what that sounds like when the guys sing Malcolm Dalglish's "Water Under Ice." And it just wouldn't be Christmas if Cantus didn't sing Franz Biebl's "Ave Maria" This was written for a volunteer firemen's chorus (really!), but to hear Cantus do this classic is to get as close as possible to the glories that must've sounded in Biebl's head when he created it.
