St. Paul, Minn. — Major contributors to the roots-based musical hotbed that is the Twin Cities, Pert' Near Sandstone fuels the flame with their high energy old-timey tunes. The set up is traditional; five guys gathered around one microphone with their respective stringed instruments. The sound is a frenzied string shredding spree that takes audiences under its spell.

From traveling the country to being hand picked to appear on A Prairie Home Companion, Pert Near Sandstone gained widespread appeal. Their latest and fifth release is titled "Paradise Hop."

Songs performed: "Snake Charmer," "Save Me" and "Okanagan Valley."
