Senator Klobuchar backs St. Croix bridge bill
by Cathy Wurzer, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Sen. Amy Klobuchar's bill to build a new bridge over the St. Croix River may take an important step forward today: The bill is on the agenda for the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee.
Klobuchar wrote the bill and co-sponsors it with Sen. Al Franken and Wisconsin's two senators. Its language is identical to Rep. Michele Bachmann's House bill, which already passed out of committee.
If Klobuchar's bill also passes, the next step is a full vote in the House and Senate.
Klobuchar discussed why she supports the $690 million bridge project Thursday with Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer.
