St. Paul, Minn. — A four note chromatic germ is the starting point for an entire work of extreme virtuosity.

The Fantasie and Fugue on the Theme B-A-C-H is a Franz Liszt masterpiece. It is both an homage to the works of Bach and a testament to the artistic prowess of Liszt.

Classical MPR celebrates for the 200th anniversary of Liszt's birth this Saturday with this monumental work from a Frederic Chopin Society recital featuring Misha Dacic earlier this month. Dacic's astounding performance of this piece is both earthy and ethereal and will make it a Regional Spotlight to remember.

Regional Spotlight airs Thursday at 3 p.m. on Classical MPR stations and web stream.
