St. Paul, Minn. — Erik Sanborn grew-up listening to his grandmother accompany silent movies. His favorites were the horror films. Sanborn's grandmother made those experiences especially gripping.

While his own artistic path led to dance and choreography, those childhood memories never left. Sanborn, now the director of the Metropolitan Ballet, knew it was time to bring his love of music and horror films and dance together.

Over the next two weekends The Metropolitan Ballet presents a new work, Erik Sanborn's DRACULA. Steve Staruch spoke with the composer and choreographer.
