Metro homebuilders pull more permits in September
by Annie Baxter, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Twin Cities homebuilders pulled more permits in September than they did during the same month last year.
Permits increased by 20 percent for a total of 272 last month. However, the number of units permitted and the dollar value of those permits was down from September of last year.
The Builders Association of the Twin Cities said permitting activity last month mostly involved single-family home construction. Multi-family construction, which had boosted the industry last year, was down 40 percent from last September.
