St. Paul, Minn. — Over the last few seasons the Pacifica Quartet has presented the entire Beethoven cycle of string quartets at the Music in the Park Series. Classical MPR has been most happy to present these performances as a part of our Regional Spotlight.

The Pacifica's Beethoven cycle concludes with one of the earliest Beethoven quartets. Composed in c-minor, the key of the Symphony No. 5, Beethoven shows his teeth in his string quartet no. 4. The music is both stormy and intimate but also playful and athletic and the Pacifica Quartet relishes the opportunity to present this passionate work to an audience that oohs and aahhs its approval.

Regional Spotlight airs Thursday at 3 p.m. on Classical MPR stations and web stream.
