Fatal Minn. crash involving pedestrian investigated

Hampton, Minn. (AP) — The State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a female pedestrian near Hampton.

Troopers say the accident happened just before 6:30 a.m. Monday on Highway 50 just east of Highway 52.

State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske tells WCCO radio the 76-year-old woman may have been crossing the highway to retrieve the mail or a newspaper from her mailbox.

The crash closed Highway 50 in both directions while authorities investigated.
