Gordon C. Stewart on the execution of Troy Davis
by Gordon C. StewartSt. Paul, Minn. — People around the world are objecting to an execution scheduled for Wednesday evening in Georgia.
Supporters of Troy Davis have been holding vigils outside Georgia's death row and as far away as London and Paris.
Prosecutors say Davis killed an off-duty police officer in 1989 but his lawyers point to what they say is flawed evidence and recanted testimony.
One person opposed to the execution is commentator Gordon Stewart, who sent us this essay.
