Cravaack urged to meet constituents in Duluth

Republican U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack held public meetings in the relatively remote towns of Deer River and Grand Portage in his 8th District this week. Some of his constituents are urging him to host a town hall meeting in Duluth.

One of those people is Chad McKenna, field coordinator for the Northeast Area Labor Council.

"While we're glad that the 1,600 residents of those communities were able to meet with and talk with their member of Congress, the district's largest city and its 86,000 residents have been notably missing from his town hall occasions."

McKenna is hosting a meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. for people who want to ask queestions of Cravaack. He'll then send Cravaack a video of the event, and invite him to Duluth during the August recess.

At Tuesday's meeting in Deer River, several constituents urged Cravaack to host a town hall in Duluth. But he was non-committal. He said he will do his best to get to Duluth when he can.

Cravaack was scheduled to visit a private company in Duluth Thursday afternoon.
