The Minnesota State Capitol reopens 9 a.m.Tuesday,. Gov. Mark Dayton's office released the announcement Monday evening.

The statement indicated that with the Capitol open, the public may watch as the legislature "prepares to reconvene to pass a budget."

The state capitol building closed on July 1 when the fiscal year ended without passage of a balanced budget and the government shut down. Since then only legislators and credentialed media have been allowed through security.
