Beethoven's Fountain of Perpetual Youth!

St. Paul, Minn. — The Pacifica Quartet has been coming to the Music in the Park Series for the past few seasons performing a complete Beethoven cycle. This past April audiences were treated to two days of Beethoven.

It's convenient that Beethoven's quartets fall into three distinct sets (early, middle and late). Over the next three weeks Classical MPR will feature one quartet from each period in the Regional Spotlight.

This week it's Beethoven's almost carefree yet ebulliently sophisticated quartet Op 18 No. 5. Like so much of Beethoven's music, this work has never aged and the Pacifica Quartet play the piece as if it were written just for them.

Regional Spotlight airs Thursday at 3 p.m. on Classical MPR stations and web stream.
