A math phobia? It might be developmental dyscalculia

St. Paul, Minn. — Neuroscientists are tracking down the causes of developmental dyscalculia, a math disorder which is like the numerical equivalent to the better-known reading disorder, dyslexia. If you've always been bad at math, you may have a learning disorder. And, a new study shows that scientists are closer to identifying which parts of the brain are causing it.

Sashank Varma, an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota and co-author of the study, ": From Brain to Education" talked to MPR's Tom Crann about the disorder.
