Regional Spotlight: Mankato Symphony Orchestra
April 21, 2011
St. Paul, Minn. —
The Mankato Symphony Orchestra continues to celebrate it's 60th anniversary season.
Sometimes called Mankato's best kept secret, the orchestra boasts that its members are professional musicians some of whom teach or sell real estate or own businesses in Southern Minnesota.
The 60th anniversary season began last October with a gala concert that featured a fanfare written by former music director, Rolf Scheurer, and the Mendelssohn Symphony No. 4, "Italian."
Music director, Kenneth Freed of the Minnesota Orchestra leads the Mankato Symphony Orchestra in highlights from that performance in this week's Regional Spotlight.
