Minn. health department confirms 17th measles case

St. Paul, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed a second new measles case Wednesday.

The latest infection brings the state's measles outbreak total to 17.

Fifteen of those cases have been linked to a measles virus that originated in Kenya. The infection was brought back to Minnesota by a Somali toddler.

Two other cases were traced to people who acquired infections in Florida and India.

So far, there have been ten hospitalizations and no deaths related to the outbreak.
