Mpls. to spend an additional $1M to fix potholes
People who drive the streets of Minneapolis will soon see more pothole repair crews.
The Minneapolis City Council Friday morning voted unanimously to spend $1 million to temporarily double the number of workers patching the cratered streets.
The money will pay for an additional four road crews to focus on patching cratered streets for a seven-week period.
Council member Betsy Hodges voted for the resolution, but said part of the money will be taken from funds set aside for future road maintenance.

"This is another example of the city having to eat its seed corn in these times," Hodges said. "These are dollars that otherwise would have ... extended the life of our roads."
This is second year in a row the city has spent additional funds on pothole repairs.
