Racino bill resurfaces at the Capitolby Cathy Wurzer, Minnesota Public Radio
As Minnesota wrestles with a $5 billion budget deficit, a bill that would establish a so-called racino at Minnesota's two horse racing tracks will be introduced Monday.
Its supporters say the money raised could help spur economic development. The bill would put slot machines at Canterbury Park in Shakopee and at Running Aces harness track outside Forest Lake.
One of the past proponents of the racino idea at the legislature was former Republican State Sen. Dick Day. He's now a lobbyist with the group Racino Now, and will be at the bill's introduction. MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Sen. Day.
