Dayton holds flood meetings in Mankato, Winona
Mankato, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is holding preparedness meetings in two Minnesota cities in parts of the state that could see major flooding this spring.
Tuesday's meetings are at 11 a.m. at the Guard Armory in Mankato and 1 p.m. at the American Legion in Winona. Members of the public are invited to attend the meetings.
The National Weather Service says the flood risk in the Minnesota and Mississippi River valleys is at its most severe in at least 10 years.
Dayton will be joined by several state officials who deal with emergency management and disaster relief, including Adjutant General Rick Nash of the Minnesota National Guard, as well as local officials.
