St. Paul, Minn. — Emerging from Los Angeles' growing indie-soul scene, Fitz & the Tantrums began as the one-man project of Michael Fitzpatrick, but has now expanded into a seven-piece band. Fitzpatrck--"Fitz" for short--plays the church organ and shares vocal duties with singer Noelle Scaggs.

The band includes all of the usual soul & indie instruments, including horns, but with one notable exception--guitars. This helps lend their sound a smooth, nostalgic pop feel, perfectly joining indie-pop and retro R&B sounds.

Fitz & the Tantrums stopped by The Current studios to play some songs.

Songs performed: "Don't Gotta Work It Out," "L.O.V.," "Moneygrabber."
